Cake Smash

One of the most anticpated milestone sessions is the legendary cake smash session. This delightful and messy affair involves placing a tempting cake in front of the birthday baby and letting them explore the sugary creation. The resulting photos are a riot of colors, laughter, and cake covered cuteness!

Milestone sessions dedicated to baby's first year of life hold a special place in many parents' hearts. These sessions are typically scheduled at three months, six months, and nine to twelve months, including the renowned cake smash session. These session offer a captivating glimpse into the incredible transformation that takes place during this crucial period of a child's life. Amidst the chaos of sleepless nights, and endless diaper changes, milestone sessions serve as a beautiful pause button. Before your baby's milestone session, we will decide on what theme you would like for the session, the props, outfits, and color theme. All of the props and outfits from our client closet is included in the session.

2. Plan your session

After your initial phone call, we will meet to plan your session. When you book with us, we always begin with the end in mind. We’ll talk about what you envision for your session and we’ll design your session to complement your style and colors. The type of session and locations for your session will be discussed.
You have two options for your child's session:
Classic Child's Portrait Session - Minimalistic background, few props, and soft, genuine smiles. Images are in color and in black and white.
Themed and Cake Smash Sessions - A fun way to celebrate the milestone of your baby turning one! Sessions are fun and themed. And yes, they can be done without a cake also!

3. book your session

When you are ready to officially book, I will send you a questionnaire to get an even better understanding of your goals, a contract to sign, and an invoice to secure your session. When those items are completed, you are officially booked!
I take a limited number of sessions each month, so it is best to book early.

4. Your exclusive session

After we have decided on a theme and I have a clear vision of what you would like, I will put the background and props together. My studio is stocked with different props that I will use. If you have a specific prop from home that you would like to use, bring it to the session.
Because of allergies, if you choose to include a cake, I will ask you to bring one.

I will make the session fun and engaging for your child. We will play music, chat and play while your child is getting used to a new situation and to me!

5. Enjoy your beautiful images!

Within two weeks of your session, we will hold a reveal session where final decisions will be made. We will help you sort through the images and decide what would look best in your home. We offer archival quality prints, exquisite wall art, custom heirloom albums, gifts and so much more.
The final edited images and products will be ready about three weeks after your purchase.
No need to pick up your products, they will arrive at your home.

Diane Gabriel Photography offers many options to meet your needs.
To secure your milestone session, the session fee and contract must be received. The session fee session covers my time and talent, wardrobe and props, as well as studio costs or needed permits. Digital images, prints and products are purchased separately.
How much you invest in your child's milestone session really depends on your wants and needs.

We absolutely love our newborn photos! Diane was extremely professional, kind, and patient with us during our newborn session. We had an in home session. We took posed newborn photos with the props, wraps, and headbands Diane brought., and we also took family photos in the nursery and room. We got so many great shots!
